New Resource: Finding Birds in Guilford County

Want to know where the good birding spots are, how to get there, and what you can expect to find? Take a look at our newly updated Finding Birds in Guilford County. PBC member Dennis Burnette researched and produced this guide to 28 publicly-accessible sites across the county, primarily parks and preserves. The description of each site includes GPS information and driving directions; background information on the site; recommended viewing locations; and a discussion of species often found there. In addition to the individual site descriptions, the guide includes driving directions for Dennis’ “Tour of the Greensboro Lakes,” a day-tour of spots to look for waterfowl, along with land birds near the water’s edge.

Finding Birds in Guilford County is a great resource for visitors and newcomers to the area, as well as residents looking for a refresher on the county’s birding opportunities. Go to the Resources tab or

Local Land Conservancy Properties & Birds You Might See There

Ken Bridle, in his position of Stewardship Director with Piedmont Land Conservancy, manages over 25,000 acres of land and more than 200 projects. Ken has worked as a professional scientist for over 40 years, and conducts local and regional conservation research and restoration projects in the Dan River area. In his presentation, Ken will educate us about Piedmont Land Conservancy protected properties in our area that are open to the public, and the bird species you might find there.
A link to access the Zoom meeting will be sent to PBC members on the club's email listserv a few days in advance. The presentation will be recorded and the link posted on this website. Members of the public are welcome to view the program recording once it is posted.

You can view a list of PBC's programs for the 2021-22 program year by clicking here.

Note: Different Week for October Meeting

Please note that the October meeting will be the second Thursday of the month rather than the third. This is because it is a joint meeting with Pearson Audubon. Mark your calendar! This is a test! Do not adjust your set!
