About
the Piedmont Bird Club
The Piedmont Bird Club was established in 1938. Club members have
always taken an interest not only in birds, but also in nature in general
and in the conservation of our natural resources. Education of the public
in various ways, as well as active community involvement is of special
interest to the members.
Club activities include meetings, field trips, community services and social activities. Local birding trips to enjoy the beauty and variety of birds in the Piedmont area are regularly scheduled.
Meeting programs include information about local birding, unusual
sightings, and talks and presentations about birds and other wildlife from
experts in the field.
Congratulations New Officers for 2007-2008!

Most of our field trips are led by members to explore different local habitats. Some are just for the morning or day, and a very few may venture farther afield and involve overnight or weekend stays. We always recommend that you bring your binoculars and a field guide if you have one. Be sure to contact the leader at least a day or two in advance of the date for specific meeting times and places, and to ask about dress recommendations and details such as if lunch money, drinks, or other items may be suggested. Each year, in the Greensboro area, the Piedmont Bird Club conducts the
Christmas Bird Count for the National Audubon Society as part of an ongoing
study of bird populations. In the spring of each year, a bird count, sponsored
by the Carolina Bird Club, is conducted for the study of local bird
populations in the Greensboro area.

The Education Committee has developed a slide presentation of bird pictures, most of which were taken by PBC members. The presentation can be given on request to clubs, schools and other groups interested in viewing slides of birds in the Piedmont area. The slides and interesting facts about the birds are presented by a PBC member. Please contact us to schedule a presentation.
